I used to be something. Now I am nothing but dust spread throughout sand, but at one point in my life I meant a great bit to quite a few people.Slowly I fade; soon I will be gone for good. But I'll never forget how I got to where I am.

They found me resting at the bottom of a body of water. Being a conch shell, I had no way of stopping the giant pink thing from taking me out of my home. There were two of the pink ones looking down at me and speaking words that I did not understand. Helplessly I lay in their hands as the sun slowly stripped away the comfort of the water that I'd known for so long.

The murmurs of my captors ceased and one of them put me to its mouth. The silly pink thing was blowing on the part of me that was most comparable to an elbow. It was a very odd and uncomfortable feeling. An irritating high-pitched noise was coming from deep within me, but I had no way to stop the strange activity. Soon the squeaking stopped, and for a split second I thought I would be freed. However, this was not going to happen and it son started to use me to make even louder noises. Around me I could feel the entire island cringe at the deep bellows that the pink things were making with my "elbow".

Slowly more pink ones trickled out of the dense forest surrounding the beach. These things seemed to come in different shapes, sizes, and shades. The tinier Pinks were oblivious to some sort of incident that the others were all pretending not to worry about. There seemed to be a new found sense of freedom in the pink things, but some - like the squishy one next to my captor - tainted the happiness with something darker and more realistic.

Pink things covered in black came from the other side of the beach, moving together with rhythm. The groups leader said something to the Captor and the two had a sort of conversation. The other leader, whose head reminded me of an open flame, seemed stiff. His eyes were harsh and showed little emotion.

In the middle of whatever the two were saying one of the black-pink things fell into the sand with a light thump. Instead of showing some sort of concern, the rest of its group laughed. The forest was stiff as their ruckus disrupted the serene silence. Two of the things picked up the Fallen One and dragged it over to a log.

As the rest of the black-pinks sat around the Fallen One their fiery leader joined the conversation of the Captor and the Squishy One. They were calm, but I could feel the imbalance of power. The Squishy One was trying to say something, but the other two didn't seem to care for his input. The Red One did something that caused the Squishy One to become quiet, and the mood around the group darkened.
When I started reading Lord of the Flies I hated it with a passion. To help make the book more interesting for me, I decided to see everything I read from a different point of view. The conch shell was constantly used, so I figured that I would go with that.
