Mirror Mirror

I look in the mirror
and like what I see,
but I'm fairly certain
that this girl isn't me.

She looks too pretty,
and her eyes are so blue.
There's no way this is me;
my reflection isn't true.

How can a mirror
show something that's not there?
I'm not that smiling girl,
and it's so unfair.

My eyes have always been
a dark and boring grey.
They're only blue when I cry
but the color doesn't stay.

I remember everything,
every insult I've ever heard,
and it's sad to say
that I believed every word.

Those hurtful words
are the ones that I see.
Will somebody prove
that my reflection is really me?
